Lonny, Ernie, and I have finally selected our favorite entries for the current Writer's Challenge.
If you remember, we posted several pieces of artwork and asked our readers to devise a story synopsis or outline and then choose from a list of pro-authors to actually write the given stories. All of these are to be included in the yearly Aberrant Dreams anthology released later this year.
There were quite a few really good ones to choose from. Expect an announcement of the winners once we get a return acknowledgement from the appropriate writers.
Anyway, more information coming soon.

Hi Christina and welcome to the forums.
Great News. We have selected a special entry for the contest and got the thumbs up from the author. Who is it, you may ask...
Well, I'm not going to tell you, just yet.
This one is a surprise. I can say that this author is one of the 21 semi-finalists in the Locus Poll for best SF novel of the year. Check it out at the following link.
https://secure.locusmag.com/2007/2007PollAndSurvey.html
For a teaser, the entry pays homage to Donald Wandrei, and promises to be quite good.

| Now Joe, lets narrow it down a little further for our readers, the author you are referring to is actually a finalist in another catagory as well (will that help?): and let me tell you this writer is excited too! We find it utterly amazing and wonderful that a classic SF story written over three quarters of a century ago is about to be revisited by one of todays hottest! |

| I'm glad to be involved with this challenge! It's going to be great. Although, I agree with Christine, in that it's really going to be some CHALLENGE! |

Hi Rob and welcome to the forums.
I look forward to seeing the story you send to us; I am sure it will be good. Also, I see you will be attending FantaSciCon this year. Look Lonny, Ernie, and me up while you are there.

O Rob Shelsky better look us up as I recruited him on our SF panel straight away. He always adds so much! I am eager to see what he does with the outline he was awarded. I dont think Rob could have guessed ahead of time what he ended up with.
Ian Watson submitted his and boy is it wonderful!
Also Joe are you going to announce who is doing the anthology preface/introduction or are we suppose to be quiet about that? BTW just this week this person was named a finalist for this years Nebula Award for best novel. |

Okay, now you are scaring me! Stop telling me how wonderful Ian's story is! You're putting the fear of Isaac Asimov into me!
Mine's moving along -- mer people and all!
And, of course I'll see all three of you(????) at the Con. What is this, the whole unholy alliance coming???? |

Yes all three of us are going, you needn't worry too much about Lonny though as he is the civil and kind one. The other two might just say or do anything!
And I guess I should stop mentioning how wonderf..., errrr delightf..., errrr innovati..., errr brillie... Ian's story from Tina Sena's synopsis is.
For the record:
A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
By the way isnt the opening story of I, Robot entitled "Robbie"? hmm strange coincidence. |

Rob- And you thought it was bad with the three of them going to the con. . . things are much worse than you initially thought - I'm there too!!!
Seriously, this should be a great time, I can't wait!
See you 'boys' there!

| We are glad you are coming Christina! plus you showed us that the easiest way to effectively host a panel is come up wiith one REALLY good question and let the crowd duke it out! Remember that? |
