There is something great about Mosquito Man . It’s the back of the movie box. According to the box,

Mosquito Man is the story of Dr. Bowman and his team, who have been working on a vaccine for the West Niles Virus. When criminals invade the lab to steal the vaccine, the bad guys inject Dr. Bowman with the new, untested drug. The injection mutates Dr. Bowman and a vengeful killing spree ensues.

Why is that great? Because nothing like that happens!

First of all Dr. Bowman is a drunk that’s rarely seen and is actually one of the victims of Mosquito Man or Mansquito, if you prefer. Also, there is no vaccine, no deadly injection, and no invasion. What actually occurs is Dr. Bowman has the prison bring over a convict to test a new strand of mosquitoes. Their DNA is altered so they can not carry the virus. However, when the convict tries to escape, a gun fight occurs and the radioactive chambers explode, infecting the convict and Dr. Jerry Allen (she’s one of the main characters of the film).

There is no vengeful killing spree; rather, Mansquito just sucks the blood of anything around. Like Dr. Allen says, “Mosquitoes just want to feed and mate.” Dr. Allen is the woman for whom he lusts since she herself is slowly mutating into a Mosquito Woman.

Since this is a movie about mosquitoes, it’s probably okay to say that this movie sucks more than blood. Save the rental fee and watch the bug zapper in the back yard frying mosquitoes. Either way, the ending is still the same: extra crispy mosquitoes.
